
AL Zuhoor Green Infrastructure Design and Supervision
This project provides an example of green infrastructure integration into the urban setting of Amman to provide many needed benefits including flood mitigation, water harvesting, biodiversity, and provision of social space.
The main counterpart of the project was GAM and UN-Habitat, and the main outcomes of the project were:
- Improved protection and resilience to flooding in the target project location in Amman.
- Reduced vulnerabilities of local communities and Syrian refugees to flash floods in Amman
- Strengthened capacities of government and communities to better manage floods in urban areas in Amman.
The project included a hydrological and hydraulic investigation, site selection, detailed design, cost estimate and Bill of Quantities for Flood Mitigation Intervention in Jabal Alzohoor/ Amman which included underground storm water tank and above ground bio retention lagoons. This scope included development of design and tender documents and supervision for the entire project.
