
Monitoring Framework for SDG 6 in Jordan
The objective was to support the Ministry of Water and Irrigation within the Government of Jordan by establishing a coordinated data collection and tracking framework aimed at assessing Jordan’s progress towards achieving SDG 6 targets by 2030. This framework will ensure that the process is consolidated, coordinated, and managed at a cross-ministerial level to ensure sustainability. This consultancy consisted of the following main activities:
- Undertake a comprehensive assessment of the current progress status of achievement of SDG 6
- Identifying and streamlining existing SDG 6 monitoring frameworks
- Developing and institutionalizing an SDG 6 monitoring framework
- Streamlining of reporting mechanisms
- Capacity building program for MWI to implement the developed monitoring framework.
- Assessing the current national SDG 6 targets:
- Reviewing existing data and determining the input, documents, and information necessary to conduct the study.
- Reviewing current SDG-6 indicators: baseline, progress and tentative targets in the Voluntary National Report (VNR).
- Assessing the status of SDG-6 indicators in Jordan via three facets:
- Jordan’s SDG-6 rank regionally and globally.
- Against two selected countries: one developing and one developed (Rapid desktop comparison).
- Preparing the SDG 6 targets trajectory report through:
- Determining the input parameters / variables / interventions that control the target values over the coming eight years and predictions of national development progress.
- Setting the proposed 2030 national SDG targets with reasonable annual expectations.
